A study on frequency of western disturbances and precipitation trends over Jammu & Kashmir, India : 1980-2019

A study has been conducted on frequency of western disturbances (WDs) and variability precipitation over J&K for the period 1980 to 2019. The WD’s from November April during was determined results showed that total 600 cases were observed 1980-2019. It an average month December, 2 moderate severe 3 January, February, March respectively. Trends WD Precipitation different months analyzed using Innovative trend analysis, Mekendal test linear regression analysis. analysis frequencies decreasing significant (p<0.01) with slope values -0.610 -2.748 respectively increasing trends February value 2.795 January 0.417 but non significant. Mann–Kendall statistical tests monthly series 1980-2019 Kupwara in December a -2.450 -2.947 mm/month while Gulmarg station -6.947 mm/month. No other stations although some increased trends. Baderwah ranging -0.727 -7.806 except (Baderwah) which 1.058 at p<0.01. Increasing april Kukernag 1.267 2.348 march. Banihal Batote also 2,231 As shown, only had -1.746 -4.116 All shown no correlation between all done positively R2 0.55.
